Do not let your adornment be merely outward- arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel- rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
1 Peter 3:3-4
One of the most popular programs on television today is Extreme Makeovers. The worlf is facinated with those who are completely transformed by drastic surgeries, weight loss, hair styling, and wardrobe changes.
As Christians, the temptation is to follow the world’s view of beauty and to seek to be changed externally. Yet 1 Peter 3:4 tells us ‘the hidden person of the heart’ is far more precious in God’s sight.
Proverbs 31:30 says, “Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised” (emphasis added). True beauty that is lasting comes from a reverntial fear of God.
Let Him give you the “ultimate” makeover that will never sag, wrinkle or fade away- a beauty that results from an intimate, personal, and vital relationship with the living God.
