Psalm 37

Trust in the Lord, and do good, dwell in the land and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of His heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret–it only causes harm. For evildoers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the earth…. {v18} The Lord knows the days of the upright, and their inheritance shall be forever… {v.23} The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in His way… Psalm 37: 4-9, 18, 23

About 2 years ago now, the Lord gave me Psalm 37 to graze on as I faced many BIG decisions. Going back to that chapter, I can’t help but be grateful for His Word. As I sought the Lord to shed some light on these 40 verses, in them He drew me near to His heart; gave me His desires, and supplied me with His Word to direct me clearly on what path to take.

So I return to this oh-so-familiar place of humility. Yeilded, I lay my life before Him desiring Him more. Seeking His Word to do what it does best – delicately pierce my heart again.  From the beginning of time, our loving Father breathed these Living Words, for you and me. Might I encourage you to return to His Word today? Indeed it is living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12).

He is faithful. He never fails. Never is He late. Just when you think you’ve sought Him- pursue Him more…. Until He returns or takes us home, get to know Him well.
