Rejoice always, pray without ceasing,in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophesies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil. Now may the God od peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-24
Yes, even for those family members that get under your skin: give thanks. For friends, family, fellowship, the turkey and food: give thanks. This is all on the horizontal plateau, and God is faithful. He is with us. He will go before us in these things that concern us. However, looking vertically we have a treasure far greater to be thankful for. Jesus. Our God cares for us so much that He sent His Son- for your sake. For Jesus: give thanks. For God’s provision to us, He’s given us a helper, comforter, encourager. For the Holy Spirit: give thanks. Remember last year’s thanksgiving? It has been a whole year, and God has supplied you with all that you need: physically, emotionally, financially & spiritually. Where would you be without His tender loving care?
So during this busy holiday season, we as believers are to lead by our example of gratitude and thanksgiving to our Lord and Savior, Jesus. Who else can we count on to express gratitude to Him?
