The Lord will wait…

Isaiah 30:18 “Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; and therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.”

Ever read something like a short phrase or word that strikes you? Reading “the Lord will wait” makes me think…. My “waiting on God” perhaps has much deeper meaning than merely idle waiting for time to elapse. I’ve heard it illustrated that we are in the “waiting room” to be called by the physician to be seen. Nothing wrong with that picture, but this verse illustrates a different picture to me. I see the Physician waiting for me to arrive…. Paint the picture yourself. He is ready, prepared and desiring to do something, to move, to diagnose, to cure and heal, to be near, to minister…. But idle waiting doesn’t deliver us to proper clinic with the proper physician. Idle waiting merely masks our symptoms, and causes a spiritual laziness, or defeated-ness, that unwillingly or haphazardly attends to the desires of the heart. What I see is a difference, rather an eager waiting that is unsatisfied with the mere passerby quick-fix answers of life. A type of waiting that is satisfied – IN – the waiting. A waiting that is content, consistent, trusting and confident. So be aware today that God is waiting on you! Why continue to have the Lord wait? Rather address the conditions of your heart, and begin to eagerly wait. His fresh and anew strength awaits those who wait for Him. He will show up. He always does. And He will not disappoint.

“The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him” Lamentations 3:25
