Read and Meditate on 1 Samuel 16: 14-23

Here David was called and anointed as King from the Lord, but his time had not yet come to rule as King. Instead he was sought after to minister to King Saul, by playing his harp to alleviate the distressing spirit from Saul temporarily. We learn that David was anointed by the Spirit of God and when Saul would have the distressing spirit upon him, David would play the harp and Saul would become refreshed and well. (1 Samuel 16:23).

Have you ever asked the Lord to give you His Holy Spirit to dwell within you? If not, ask Him now to baptize you with His Holy Spirit, or fill you afresh and anew.

Like David, we as believers have the Spirit of God that is able to give refreshment to those spiritually dead around us. 1 Corinthians 3: 17 says, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (freedom).” If King Saul can be impacted by David, how much more the lost around us?
